Strictly Come Dancing Natalie Gumede

The ever amazing Natalie Gumede danced the Paso Doble to El Gato Montes by Ramon Cortez Pasodoble Orchestra this evening, with her professional partner Artem Chigvintsev.

In her VT, Natalie said last Saturday was the best moment of her life and that she will take on any feedback from the judges. “To make it to the semi-final, I will count myself as very lucky”. To keep Len sweet this week, Artem said that he wants to keep the dance as traditional as possible.

Last week wasn’t Natalie’s strongest week as she scored a total of 36 points from the judges, putting her third on the leaderboard. Craig said he loved the lift at the beginning but she has to get rid of the habit of looking down before entering a lift. Darcey added the fluidity and mirroring between the pair was amazing.

Judges Comments

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “I totally agree with Bruno, it was classy, clean and precise… it was almost too slick. There lacks an element of danger and surprise. The reason you slipped is because you put too much weight on your outside leg”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “It was glorious. It was classic, pure choreography… If we could have a stronger story, I know I’ve asked for it before, but I’d like to have seen a stronger relationship between you. But, beautiful work”.
  • Len Goodman: “I like the intensity and focus of the whole thing, but I never thought you were going to touch her. 3/4 of it, you were like germophobes. I’ve just got this picture of you now Natalie, just swooshing around. You know what I like, I like to see a little bit of what I recognise. It was too much gaffing about at the beginning. Artem, I wouldn’t lie to you… you need to up your game int he swing-a-thon as you may be in jeopardy after this dance”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “It was really the undiluted essence of classic Spain, apart from one slip-up. I’d like to see that again done at full potential. I’m telling you, it was so fantastic”.

Natalie & Artem received a combined score of 35 with a 9 from Craig, a 9 from Darcey, an 8 from Len and a 9 from Bruno.

Strictly Come Dancing returns tomorrow evening with the all important results show.

I agree with Len that Natalie has spent every dance primarily out of hold and wafting her arms about, but that’s Artem’s fault! I’m not Natalie’s biggest fan but, to be fair, she can only dance the choreography she’s given, and those stylistic decisions are down to him.
