Talia Smith is hoping she can make it all the way to the live finals of The Voice this year, after auditioning for the coaches in Salford recently.
The mum of three was featured in The Sun this morning and revealed to be the first traveller to audition for the BBC show, prompting some fans to brand her the shows’ Cher Lloyd.
Cher of course shot to fame on The X Factor in 2010, after revealing her gypsy background and like Talia, the talented young star was always proud of her heritage and certainly made no apologies for it.
Smith reportedly lives in a caravan near Heathrow and has long aspired to pursue a career in the music industry.
She was set to perform for Kylie Minogue, Ricky Wilson, Tom Jones and Will.i.am at the end of last year, as part of a duo, however her friend Kelly Lee – the other half of Travellin Rose – pulled out, leaving her to go it alone.
The newspaper reports that Tom Jones took ‘a bit of a fancy’ to the hopeful performer, who has worked as a professional singer for a few years.
Talia’s rather excited about making her TV debut and tweeted her followers this morning saying:
“Wow!!! I’m in the @TheSunNewspaper today!! Eeeekkkk exciting times…so who’s gonna wish me luck!! #Arrows”
If she does as well as Cher Lloyd Smith will be delighted as the young star hasn’t just made it big in the UK, but has become one of the recent young UK singers to crack the States as well, following in the footsteps of One Direction and The Wanted.
Lloyd was raised in Malvern, with her parents and three younger siblings. Her family is of Gypsy origin and the ‘Swagger Jagger’ hitmaker spent the first year of her life traveling around Wales with her parents in a caravan.
Listen to Talia’s gorgeous country tones in the video below and tell us if you think she’s good enough for battle rounds….
