The Voice UK came to a close a couple of weeks ago when Mo Adeniran was crowned the winner of the series. Since then, Mo has really been hard at work on kickstarting his music career.
This year, The Voice UK moved to ITV from the BBC and there were some big changes in regards to what happens after the show comes to a close. With shows like The X Factor and The Voice, the typical process is that a Winners Single is released and then the artist goes away for about 10 months before resurfacing with their debut single.
However, as The Voice UK hasn’t really produced any stars since it started, especially from its pool of winners, the execs wanted to try something different. Since he was announced as the winner, Mo has been in the studio working on a debut EP, which was released earlier this week.
The EP is titled ‘Globetrotter’ and contains five tracks. One of the tracks is an acoustic version of Unsteady, along with a studio version of Iron Sky, which he originally auditioned for the show with. There is also an original song on the EP titled ‘Globetrotter’.
Tonight, ITV will air The Winners Story on ITV and the special one-off episode will give a behind-the-scenes look at what happened from the moment Mo’s name was called as the winner of The Voice UK. Over the week and a bit period in which filming took place, Mo was followed by cameras whilst he was in the studio, whilst he did press and media, and whilst he got on with live after winning such a massive prize: a recording contract with Polydor Records.
We’ll also see Mo head back to his hometown of Warrington to celebrate his win with a very special gig.
The Voice: The Winner’s Story airs tonight at 6pm on ITV.
