Leo Ihenacho and Steven Alexander were both very lucky dudes when they took part in The Voice battle rounds recently.
Footage of their epic singoff was aired on the BBC show tonight and for the first time in the episode so far, the men were both sent through to the next stage of the competition, as the mighty steal was used by the coaches.
The men were both fighting for a spot in Team Kylie and they sang Thunder in My Heart by Leo Sayer.
Before performing Steven admitted:
“I am quite nervous. Leo is a seasoned pro and he has done the circuit and the biz.”
However Kylie threw Leo off a bit by flirting with the ill prepared hopeful during rehearsals. She later admitted:
‘Lines didn’t come in where they were supposed to….Steven has the technical skill and Leo is struggling a bit so on the night he needs to raise his game to win.’
In the end the lads put on the best battle of the night. They played off each other, with each other and the vibe was amazing!
Kylie gushed afterwards saying:
“They did it again, they always get me out of my seat. That was so good. They did more than put thunder in my heart.”
Tom Jones raved:
“That’s a hard one, I think they were as good as one another. It would be difficult to choose.”
Ricky Wilson mused:
“You have got a tough decision Kylie. I am not choosing, I don’t have to choose….. Vocally I couldn’t get a cigarette paper between them but performance wise I liked the way Leo moved more.”
In the end, perhaps predictably, Kylie chose to save Leo but luckily Tom Jones opted to steal Steven for his team. He said:
“Steven is good to go, he’s got a whole lot of promise. He can sing and he can move.”
