Children In Need WOWS with EastEnders, Eddie Redmayne, Bake Off & Doctor Who specials!

by Lynn Rowlands

Last night, the BBC cancelled all of its regular scheduling in order to air this year’s Children In Need telethon. And what a corker of a show it was…

Though of course, it was tinged with a good deal of sadness as the show paid tribute to Children In Need veteran, the late Terry Wogan.

Likewise, there were lots of emotional videos showing the work of the charities and good causes that Children In Need supports, and those who benefit from them…

However, as ever, for every sad and weepy moment there was a fun offering. And last night, a good deal of the fun was supplied by the cast of BBC serial drama, EastEnders.

It kicked off with Danny Dyer speeding out of Albert Square on a motorbike, Top Gun styly, and continued with some of his castmates performing awesome dance routines live in the studio.

There was another big treat from the BBC though as we got to see a sneak peek of the Doctor Who Christmas 2016 special…

And as if that wasn’t epic enough, we also saw dozens of stars taking part in a sketch that also featured ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ star Eddie Redmayne.

The Bake Off team of Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc reunited for the scenes, while also popping up at various points were Britney Spears, X Factor boss Simon Cowell, chat show host and comedian Graham Norton and footie legends Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer to name but a few.

Take a look at a few of the highlights of last night’s Children In Need…

By the end of the night, a whopping £46,624,259 had been raised, and that total will continue to rise over the coming days as donations continue to flood in.
