Grey’s Anatomy star Jerrika Hinton is confirming that she’s hanging up her scrubs for good.
As fans saw in the explosive finale of season 13, Jerrika’s character Dr. Stephanie Edwards managed to survive the explosion that raged through Grey Sloan Memorial but decided it was time to leave the hospital for good.
The actress confirmed that she won’t be back on the ABC show when it returns for season 14 later this year, confirming in an emotional post on Instagram that she’s waving bye bye to the series (at least for now).
See what Jerrika had to say about leaving Grey’s Anatomy below;
I am eternally thankful for five seasons of #GreysAnatomy and a graceful departure that underscores the courage it takes to choose yourself. That Stephanie literally walks through fire to reach freedom — her freedom — inspires me. It also makes me curious: What does freedom look like for you, dear viewer? After all, it’s not only the heroics that make her brave, it’s her finally seeing (and seeking) a better path. #onlyfreakingsuperheroes #takeyourpastandfindyourpath You fans and viewers are some of the most devoted folks I’ve ever met. Thank you for your endless energy. Bosslady Shonda, Queen Debbie, and entire the Grey’s Anatomy cast and crew forever remain in my heart. The #Shondaland family is a mighty, winding forest. I look forward to seeing you all in another clearing.
As we previously reported, it was rumoured that Hinton would be leaving the drama after it was announced that she’d landed a new gig on another show.
Jerrika will now be appearing in the series comedy/drama series Here, Now which is set to debut on HBO later this year.
