X Factor bosses have reportedly banned Cheryl Cole from hiring Derek Hough as her advisor for the judges houses stage of the show.
Cheryl became close to the professional dancer after her marriage broke down earlier this year. The paired later holidayed together in Tanzania and Hough helped nurse her to health, after she contracted malaria on the trip. During her recent trip to LA, Cheryl is said to have decided that Derek would be the perfect person to help her choose her final X Factor acts. She had planned to fly him to the the UK this month but executive producer Richard Holloway is said to have put his foot down, because Hough isn’t famous enough for one of the UK’s most popular TV shows.
A show source told The Sunday Mirror:
“Cheryl has barely spent a day apart from Derek and with his background in dance she thought he would be a great mentor.
“But when Richard Holloway got wind of the idea he stepped in and immediately said ‘No’. This is the biggest show on TV so he feels that likewise mentors should be the biggest names in the music industry, not the judge’s latest squeeze. It’s unprofessional to say the least.
“Cheryl may adore Derek but unfortunately that feeling isn’t shared among the X Factor bigwigs.
“She was persistent in wanting Derek by her side, but it was explained to her that he is a dancer not a singer, and that X Factor is about singing.”
Bosses are now reportedly planning to ask Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am to join Cheryl for her final auditions.
