After her divorce was granted in the London High Court last week, Cheryl Cole has admitted that it is a good thing she didn’t have children with her cheating husband Ashley.
The X Factor judge made no secret of the fact that she pined for a family of her own while she was married, but in an interview with Vogue, she has revealed that the split was made easier by the fact that she bore no children to the man that broke her heart.
“Yes, definitely I do feel betrayed by Ashley, but I’ve got to take everything that’s happened and learn from it. I accept that that’s a chapter of my life that’s finished.
“And I’ve just got to be grateful that I’ve got so many good things going on. I have. And there’s no children, you know?”
“Some people’s lives fall apart. Of course, it’s heartbreaking, but it’s not anything remotely like it could have been and I’m very, very thankful for that.”
But a failed marriage hasn’t put Cheryl off becoming a mum. The 27 year old singer still plans to have her own brood and insists that she is ready now to have a baby. She admitted:
“That’s definitely something I want to achieve. It’s the toughest job in the world – but I know it must be the most rewarding too. I’m ready now. I’m 27. I’m a woman, not a girl any more.
“Thinking about yourself constantly isn’t so healthy. I suppose that’s the point of having children, isn’t it? Being able to live your life through them instead of you, having them be your motivation?
“That’s the ‘right’ thing, I’m thinking – when you love someone more than you love yourself. That’s what I think about my mum.”
So is Cheryl planning to make new boyfriend Derek Hough her baby daddy? It certainly sounds that way doesn’t it!
