We don’t know what’s going on, but after decades of British musicians trying and more often than not failing to crack America with their music, over the last year our homegrown acts seem to be achieving phenomenal success in the US.
The latest in a long line of UK stars to make their attempt at cracking the US charts is X Factor girl group Little Mix and early indications suggest the ladies are going to be huge.
We have loved Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh Anne Pinnock ever since Tulisa put them together on the ITV show back in 2011 and we have always hoped the ladies would go on to conquer the world, One Direction style.
They seem set to do just that, as the group have just released their first single across the Atlantic and it seems to be going down very well indeed.
The song which topped the UK single charts when it was released here last summer is climbing the charts in America and Canada quite swiftly and as we speak, it’s sitting at 55 and 27 in the US and Canadian iTunes charts respectively.
The girls haven’t even done any promotion work on the record yet, as they’re pretty tied up with their UK tour, so we can only imagine what a sales boost they receive when they skip across the pond to make their personal appearances and give their countless promo interviews.
Jade recently admitted that she hates competing with One Direction, but we don’t think the lovely ladies have anything to worry about. It seems that al things BRIT are pretty darn cool in the States right now.
As well as Little Mix and 1D, The Saturdays have their own US reality TV show Chasing The Saturdays airing at the minute and recently released their new single What About Us to American audiences.
Don’t forget that The Wanted just confirmed that they will also be launching their own series on E! in America this June, which will see them making their third album in LA.
Little Mix released their third single ‘Change Your Life’ in the UK this week and in Wednesday’s mid week chart figures, it was revealed that the song was sitting at number 12. The official chart positions will be revealed this Sunday evening.
