A couple of weeks ago, Simon Cowell admitted that the panel for this year’s series of The X Factor was going to stay the same as last year’s panel as it worked out so well. Over the years we have seen the panel swapped around more times than we care to remember, but the latest iteration of the panel seems to work so well on the show, and with viewers.
So much so, Simon Cowell basically admitted that Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and himself would be returning to the panel this year. However, reports have surfaced this morning stating that Nicole is ‘dragging her heels’ over signing on the dotted line. It has been reported that Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne have already committed to returning.
The room auditions are set to kick off rather soon on The X Factor, and The Sun newspaper has reported that bosses are desperate to avoid a last minute dish to replace Nicole if she doesn’t sign up soon.
A ‘source’ told the newspaper: “Simon has made no secret of the fact he wants the same panel this year. But while Louis and Sharon are all but signed, there’s still a question mark over Nicole. She loves the show and ended last year indicating she’d be seeing them all same time, same place. But the longer things hang in the air, the more nervous people become.
“Filming is starting in June and production will sleep easier when she gives Simon her answer”.
We mean, these things need to be taken with a pinch of salt sometimes. With filming starting in June, it’s likely contracts have already been worked out, but you never know. The judging line-up is only ever officially announced just days before the auditions kick off.
The X Factor returns to ITV later this summer.
