The One Direction lads have taken on Backstreet Boys’ I Want it That Way whilst on tour, to show they’re the best boyband around. Backstreet Boys who?
One Direction have been touring the world with their latest Take Me Home Tour and on Wednesday night, they made their stop in Stockholm, in which they had a little surprise for their fans. They paid tribute to the legendary 90s band, Backstreet Boys by performing one of their classic hits.
Forget NKOTBSB, can we have 1DBSB. However, BSB are the biggest selling boyband in history – maybe something 1D are trying to take on.
As would be expected, the crowd went bonkers when Niall announced that they would be performing the track.
Following the performance, the Backstreet Boys tweeted: “Heard @OneDirection did an impromtu performance of “I Want It That Way” in Sweden last night. Well done bros! (sic)”
Singer, Howie D added: “Heard @OneDirection sang one of our Backstreet Boy songs “I Want It That Way” at a recent concert in Sweden. Thanks guys and much respect!!!”
Meanwhile, the 1D lads have had to ramp up ther security for the US leg of their tour amid fear of crazy fans. If this week is anything to go by, then they have every right to be quaking in the boots after Harry was nearly taken out after a crazed 19-year-old launched herself at him.
Elsewhere, the band have launched a countdown via a dedicated website, http://onebigannouncement.com, teasing that there’s a big announcement coming in a few days. Ed Sheeran announced last week that the lads’ album was finished, but a rep denied it – could it be a new single is on the way?
The tour continues in Copenhagen this evening before moving onto Berlin and Hamburg on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Let us know what you think the big announcement could be, and how you think they did taking on BSB, in the comments below!
