Sharon Osbourne has admitted that she regrets leaving The X Factor.
The puffy faced star star left the ITV juggernaut in 2008, after she spent the previous series rowing with new panel member Dannii Minogue. In a subsequent interview with Piers Morgan, Sharon said:
‘I left because of Dannii Minogue. Simple as that.
‘I didn’t enjoy working with her at all and the prospect of spending six months sitting next to her, I thought “my life is better than that”.’
However, Sharon, 57 has been persuaded to return and last month jetted into Ireland to help Louis Walsh choose his acts for this year’s live shows. The pair filmed for the ITV show at Adare Manor in Limerick and speaking to The Daily Mail at the venue, Osbourne admitted that she had been too impulsive in leaving the show.
‘It was stupid. At my age I should have known better. In hindsight, yes, I was too impulsive.’
‘It took me two years to really get over it. It is such an amazing show and I met some terrific people. Leaving that was an awfully big decision. But it has worked out well for everyone: for Cheryl, who was the one I wanted to replace me – she’s been a great asset; and for me, with what I do now in America.’
Sharon went on to reveal that she didn’t take much persuading, when asked to return to the show this year.
‘It didn’t take a lot for Louis to persuade me,’ she admitted.
‘I’ve missed The X Factor, the people and the buzz of the whole show. Louis and I are great friends and we phone each other all the time, having a laugh and a gossip.’
Talking about Sharon and Louis’ reunion, Dannii Minogue has claimed that she has no problem with Osbourne’s return, telling the Sun:
“Sharon is welcome any time – just not in my dressing room.”
