It’s been claimed today that X Factor mogul Simon Cowell is set to return to the UK version of the show next year to replace judge Gary Barlow, who officially confirmed last night that this will be his last run on the hit talent quest…

However, it’s also been reported today that bookmaker Ladbrokes are taking bets on Simon’s fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams being drafted in to X Factor to take the place of retiring judge and mentor, Louis Walsh.

First, The Sun’s TV Biz claims that Simon is set to return to the judging bench of the UK show after his attempts to make X Factor USA a huge hit have failed amid reports of poor viewing figures for the show which airs on Fox.

Last night, a TV insider told the paper, “Simon has done everything he can to make the American version work.

“But the UK show is the biggest X Factor in the world and he’d love to be back.”

Meanwhile, as mentioned above, Ladbrokes are taking bets on who will replace Gary and Louis – though judge Sharon Osbourne has also stated that she won’t be back next year either – and in a press release from the top bookie today, it seems that as of right now, Simon and Gary’s Take That band mate Robbie Williams are neck-and-neck at 7/1 for a place on the panel next year.

Ladbrokes adds, “It’s a 12/1 shot that Louis makes way for his favourite Westlife member Shane Filan.”

Rita Ora and Mel B are both given odds of 8/1 to become a permanent mentor next year, but unfortunately for axed judge Tulisa her days on the show are well and truly over as the bookies rate her as a 33/1 outsider for a comeback.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said, “With ratings falling behind Strictly and new judges to be found, the odds suggest Simon Cowell needs to, and will come back to rescue X Factor in 2014.”

    NO! David belongs on BGT!!

Explain to me how David is to mentor singers. He is a comedian not someone in the music industry. He is great on BGT and should stay put. I’d love to see Rita Ora as a new judge as she was brilliant last season in guest mentoring and if Simon is back on the panel then i take it, that means no more X Factor USA? Does Simon know something we dont?
