Simon Cowell makes surprise appearance at X Factor 2013 launch – admits ‘I feel like a very proud daddy’

Simon Cowell made a surprise appearance at the press launch of the new series of X Factor in London today.

The music mogul has been busy sunning himself in the South of France for the past few weeks, riding out his latest personal scandal after it was revealed that he was expecting his first baby with his pal’s wife Lauren Silverman.

However, this afternoon he surprised a room full of journalists and reporters when he took to the stage after they’d watched the first two episodes of the new run, which are due to air this weekend.

Simon left the UK version of the show in 2011 when he went to America to launch his new US series. Today he showed that he’s still very much hands on with the British programme and he told the press:

“This is ten years of X Factor, this is the first time I have seen the show edited now. It was absolutely incredible. Congratulations.”

It seems that Cowell is happy for once with the content, the lineup and feel of the new show and he added:

“Great panel, great talent.”

Speaking about the audition, the bootcamp and the judging shakeup Simon said:

“It’s so easy after ten years to get lazy and make the same show again but the enthusiasm, the changes, the judging panel’s fantastic…Dermot of course…It feels fresh and fantastic and I am very proud to be part of this show.”

Cowell joked abut his recent drama, adding:

The X Factor returns this Saturday and again on Sunday and having seen both episodes, we can tell you reality TV fans you are in for a MASSIVE treat.

Sharon Osbourne is back on form, there are plenty of tears and laughter but more importantly there is really life, genuine talent!
