Simon Cowell had to skip out on X Factor auditions this week after falling ill.
According to reports, Simon was doing what he does best – judging others talent – during X Factor auditions at Tobacco Dock in East London this week when he was forced to leave the panel.
The Sun is claiming that Cowell left the venue for two hours on July 4 after falling ill but then mysteriously returned that afternoon to see more talent later that day.
“Simon didn’t feel well early in the day so had to have a bit of a slower start to the day than usual,” a source told the site of what’s being described as a “sudden mystery illness” that hit the talent show judge.
Though exactly why Cowell left the auditions hasn’t been revealed, the inside noted that he “felt a bit better as Tuesday went on” and then returned and carried on with auditions as normal.
And it sounds like returning judge Nicole Scherzinger really stepped up her game during Simon’s short lived and unexplained absence as the source revealed that she took on the role of head judge.
“Nicole really stepped up to the plate without Simon there and everyone said she absolutely dominated – but in a good way,” the newspaper’s insider revealed.
This is just the latest time one of X Factor’s judges has been MIA during the audition rounds as the talent search gears up to return to our screens this summer.
Osbourne headed back to LA recently after suffering a problem with her back, missing a round of auditions, while Nicole took some time away from the panel due to a prior work commitment.
Both times the empty judging slot was filled by Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon.
