The X Factor 2013: Mel B being lined up to pinch Nicole Scherzinger’s seat on the judging panel?

As the start of The X Factor 2013 grows ever closer, the long list of names linked to the judging panel grows ever longer – it happens religiously, year in, year out.

The latest name to be added to the list is Spice Girl Mel B. It is said that she is set to pinch Nicole Scherzinger’s seat on the panel when the show returns later this year.

If you’ve been following the shenanigans of The X Factor so far this year, you’ll have heard that Nicole Scherzinger just can’t make her mind up about returning to the show. She’s admitted she loved being on the panel, but it’s a lot of work. Her Formula 1 boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton isn’t too keen on her returning either.

Nicole has reportedly been offered £1 million to return to her seat on the panel, but she’s going to be busy around November promoting her upcoming album.

However, it would seem that producers are covering their behinds as Mel B held talks with producers last week about joining the show permanently, following her guest judge stint in Manchester last year.

Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow have all reportedly signed on the dotted line, so it would seem that Mel B is the last star to sign up. But, bosses are worried about having a repeat of last year’s palaver when Dannii Minogue pulled out at the eleventh hour, in which they had to draft in a whole host of guest judges.

An insider told The Sun: “Nicole is causing some worry. Bosses want her after her success last year, but she doesn’t know if she can give all her energy to the show.

“Producers don’t want to be left in the lurch like last year so Mel is being lined up in case talks fail”.

It would seem appropriate having Mel on the panel as her schedule has recently been freed up following her departure from Australia’s Got Talent.

I guess it’s always nice to know that you’re someone’s replacement, hey Mel?
