The X Factor and Downton Abbey are joining forces… kind of…

Though we shouldn’t expect to see Lady Mary busting out her best version of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie In a Bottle” anytime soon, reports are claiming that the ITV reality show is heading to the sprawling castle where Downton Abbey was filmed.

According to reports, Simon Cowell is allegedly desperate to use the castle when he does his judges homes round later this year.

The castle used for the popular drama is called Highclere Castle in Highclere and is reportedly being spied by Simon because he’s keen to change things up and do something a little different this year.

“[Producers] loved the idea. They think it would be great fun to have Simon sweeping down the grand drive in a vintage Rolls Royce to greet contestants,” a source told The Sun this week.

And it sounds like they’re definitely ready to bring high-class and glamour to the talent search.

“They would of course hire a team of butlers to wait on him and the contestants,” the insider added of how they’re already planning to play up the judges rich and mean persona.

As fans will likely remember, Cowell usually takes his group to a mansion in LA so that he continue to work in the US as he whittles down his acts.

Though he hasn’t confirmed the reports, the claims come just days after sources alleged that Simon and his fellow X Factor producers are looking to seriously shake things up this year because they feel the show may be starting to growing a little stale.

It’s being said that Simon wants acts to be voted off on both a Saturday and Sunday night while they’ll also be expected to perform both nights, cutting down the amount of time it takes to whittle down the talent.

In addition, it’s thought that some auditions will be held at Thorpe Park to keep things interesting while A-List performers will also take to the stage both nights.
