Treyc Cohen’s dad has hit out at The X Factor, saying that the show was fixed so his daughter couldn’t succeed.
The 26 year old Tamworth singer found herself in the sing off with Katie Waissel on Sunday night. After Simon Cowell voted to save Waissel, Cheryl Cole refused to decide between her girls and told Dermot O’Leary:
They’re both talented young women and I’m not sending either of them home Dermot. I’m refusing point blank, ask these two [Danni and Louis] and I’ll take it to deadlock.
However, when Dannii chose to save Treyc and Louis voted to send her home, the vote did not go to deadlock and Treyc was sent home
Speaking to The Sun, Fitzgerald Cohen, Treyc’s dad blasted the show saying:
“It’s a fix. It’s as simple as that. I have no idea why Treyc is out. She was easily the best singer and should not have lost to Katie.
“Lots of things happen behind the scenes so certain contestants are kept in.
“The show is not about singing, it’s a freak show now.
“I think Treyc has been let down by Cheryl. She knew Treyc was the better singer, but sat back and let her go.
“She knew she was already one down after Simon voted for Katie, but refused to balance the score. There should be an investigation into why Cheryl was allowed to refuse to vote.”
Treyc admitted on her This Morning interview that she thought she performed better than Katie in the sing off. When asked whether she should have stayed, Cohen told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby:
Oh yeah, definitely. Only from this morning, because everybody has been talking about Katie’s performance and how she sat down on the floor and I know I finished my song and put my all into it. If it was based on that then yeah, I definitely feel like I should have gone through.
On whether the judges decision was fair, Treyc added:
Probably not, looking at it that way, no.
