Tom Richards caused a bit of an upset on tonight’s X Factor show.
The 16 year old, from Pontypridd in South Wales, turned up to the show’s Cardiff auditions and sang for Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Pixie Lott. He started with The Scripts Man Who Can’t Be Moved but the panel weren’t convinced by his dated performance. He went on to sing This Is The Moment from stage musical Jekyll and Hyde, which irritated Simon Cowell even more.
After claiming that Tom wasn’t current enough, Simon criticised his second song choice saying:
“Did you listen to what I just said to you? What did I just say to you? I’m now relying on you to tell me what people of your age want to buy from you.”
“I don’t think you could have chosen a worse song. You’re not what I’d be looking for as a popstar, so it’s a no.”
Cheryl liked Tom and said:
“You’re trying to show us what you can do vocally and stuff but what we’re looking for is someone who comes in and says, look this is who I want to be, this is where I want to go and you sang two completely different songs. Despite all that, I’m going to say yes”
Louis was impressed by Tom too and took exception when Pixie Lott sided with Simon and tried to send him home. He got all in her face and started ranting:
“You have to say yes!!! I want him through!!”
After much deliberating Pixie did a u turn and sent Tom through to bootcamp. Louis almost peed his pants with excitement!
So do you agree with Pixie and Simon or Louis and Cheryl? We get what Simon was saying about the dancing but that boy does have a great set of pipes and we loved his voice. Did you? Leave your comments below.
