Rebecca Ferguson was seen breaking down in tears on tonight’s X factor show.
The 23 year old mum of two told cameras that she used to be a very confident performer but says that after she had children, she thought that her dreams of stardom were a thing of the past.
“I was very confident as a child, I was very, very cocky. I was always singing and dancing and then when I got pregnant with Lily, everyone said you’re life is over, you’re never going to become anything. I started to think well maybe I won’t be able to become a singer. Who’s gonna want me now I’ve had a kid so I’m just gonna give it a try this year and see how it goes.”
The law student added:
“I’ve never wanted to be anything else. I’ve always known what I’ve wanted to be. I feel like if it doesn’t come true, that whole 23 years will be wasted.”
Rebecca then gave an impressive performance of A Change Is Gonna Come. Her voice was amazing, but she barely looked up once, preferring to keep her eyes closed and her face pointed at the floor. While the judges loved her singing style, they had some concerns over her interaction with the audience.
Nicole: “Rebecca, your voice really moves me and I love to listen to you. I think it’s okay to be vulnerable in your music but you still have to connect with the people that you’re singing to so just keep that in mind.”
Simon: “I think the problem is, Rebecca, you kind of go off in to your own little world, where like you’re singing to yourself and we’re trying to catch up with you the whole time, which means you’re not making it as emotional as it could be. I think that’s a confidence issue.”
With three yeses Rebecca made it through to bootcamp but do you think she can survive the live shows? Leave your comments below.
