Christopher Maloney may not be a favourite of the X Factor judges but it seems that his public support is growing and bookies have reported an increase in bets being placed on the Liverpudlian to win next month.
The 34 year old has been branded a diva by some panellists and fellow contestants and hasn’t had the most positive of press coverage, however he has repeatedly defied the odds and made it as far as the final six and after seeing more money being placed on him to triumph in the final, William Hill have cut his odds to 14/1 having been as much as 66/1 previously.
“All we know for certain is that Christopher Maloney has never been in the bottom two and some rumours suggest that he is actually leading the votes on a weekly basis,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.
Going into tonight’s seventh live show of the series, there have been some changes in terms of bookies favourites and Ella Henderson, has been bumped from the top spot. She had been the favourite to take the SYCO record deal at 8/11 a month ago, however her odds have lengthened to 13/8, with Jahmene Douglas replacing her as the favourite at 6/4.
James Arthur is quietly catching up on them though and while previously available at 8/1, he is now standing at 3/1 for the win.
Tomorrow night there will be a seventh elimination and currently Rylan Clark looks most likely to get the chop at 4/5.
Once again, bookmakers think Christopher Maloney could be in trouble and have him in second place at 3/1 (though he’s been here before and has survived each time) and in third place at 7/2 is Union J, at 12/1 is James Arthur, at 20/1 is Ella Henderson and the rank outsider is Jahmene Douglas at 25/1.
