X Factor 2012: District3 say they want to bed loads of girls! And worried mum says fans are voting for Chris Maloney instead of Union J!

by Lynn Rowlands

As fans of X Factor will know, District3 were voted off last Sunday having been in the bottom two alongside their fellow boy band, Union J…

However, the D3 lads, Greg West, Micky Parsons and Dan Ferrari-Lane aren’t too disheartened because of course, being on the show has already landed them thousands of devoted fans, the majority of which are girls.

And it seems that the boys intend to make the most of their new found fame by bedding as many of those girls as possible!

In an interview with TV Biz, Greg said, “We have been in this X Factor bubble for ages and we have never really had the opportunity to go out much.

“We are all single and there was a strict rule that you have to keep it in your pants…

“Obviously, we are keeping focused and professional — this is our career that we have to think about — but don’t get me wrong, anything else is a bonus.

“And if a sexy lady threw herself at us, we would be straight on it.”

He added, “Obviously, it is gutting to be out of the competition but we are really excited for what is going to start now.

“Having two boybands is always a worry — they are a very similar target audience.

“Everyone is trying to say there is this massive rivalry between us and Union J but we get on with the boys really well and good luck to them.”

Meantime, the mother of Union J singer Josh has revealed that she’s worried that the band ended up in the bottom two last week because everyone’s voting for Chris Maloney!

Saying that she thinks many voters assume boys are safe, Josh’s mum Kathryn Browne said, “We need people to vote for them, they’re just not getting enough. Chris Maloney is running away with the votes.

“Maybe the fans think Union J might be safe and don’t bother calling.”

Do you think that’s why Union J were in the bottom two this week?

Here’s a reminder of both District3 and Union J – when they were GMD3 and Triple J respectively – at Boot Camp…

Firstly, This quote is taken from The Sun and since it also has Greg saying that they are all single I’m sure he has been misquoted since he has a long term girlfriend. Meeting fans standing outside a fence does not make people humble. But I will give you an example of what does…. Twice these groups have been involved in sing-off situations. At bootcamp GMD3 were victorious, Almost immediately (after hugging each other) they went straight to commiserate with Triple J. On Sunday District3 again were the ones who made the first move towards Union J to congratulate them. Regarding one or the other being “obviously” a better “boyband”… Surely you understand that such a statement is entirely subjective? In my opinion all members of District3 are better singers than 3 members of Union J. Only Jaymi has a voice that I could imagine on a record. Josh is always slightly below the note. George has a voice that irritates me and is always out of sync and flat when they sign together. I have no idea what JJ’s voice sounds like. I cannot distinguish it from the others when he joins in for his unison parts on the chorus. District3 sing in complicated, 3 part, self-arranged harmony. They are a true singing group in that they make use of all 3 voices to create a sound with depth and a unique quality. The also convey emotion though their voices which evokes emotion in a listener (hence Nicole’s tears.) What Union J do is very generic – solo verses with 3 in unison for the chorus and 1 very simple harmony line. Also all 3 members of District3 are multi instrumentalists who compose and arrange music. George playing guitar on the show is fooling nobody with any musical knowledge. He played the same chords before and after the key change last weekend. What he plays is very basic musicanship. These are the reasons I prefer listening to District3, If you want to outline the reasons why Union J are so “obviously” better I would like to hear them. I cannot comment fairly on which band spends more time with fans since I do not be there but I will say this… Perhaps it is because one group are in it for the music and the others are in it for the fame. It’s quite possible that instead of standing outside with fans (which infact, beside the point, it seems they do) maybe Greg, Micky and Dan are spending time working on their vocals, harmonies and songwriting.

I am by no stretch of the imagination a Rylan fan, but haven’t everybody involved backstage pointed out how lovely Rylan is? Including Gary, his most fierce critic. Therefore I am choosing to ignore your opinion of District 3 on the grounds of bad judgement.
