X Factor 2012: James Arthur is getting competitive – Jahmene Douglas’ controlling his nerves!

James Arthur has admitted that he was surprised by how competitive he’s got while singing on The X Factor.

The 23 year old revealed last week that he was fed up with people saying he didn’t need to win the show this weekend, because he was almost guaranteed a record deal following the series anyway.

He said that he is desperate to triumph and explained:

“On a personal level I would love to win because I am competitive.”

Speaking on The Xtra Factor he revealed that he’s always liked to win but rarely did before the ITV show.

“I like to win at things but I never really did,” he confessed.

“I realised I was getting more competitive as I started progressing through the rounds and now I’m in the final and it’s great.”

James is up against Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney this weekend and he admitted that he thinks he stands a good chance of taking the crown, saying:

“I think I’ve got as good a chance as anybody.”

The bookies seem to think so and they have made James their joint favourite, with his Team Nicole pal Jahmene.

Some fans of Douglas were worried that his nerves would let him down when he performs in front of 12,000 people on The X Factor final this Saturday night. He shook like a leaf at his audition and had a panic attack before he took to the stage in bootcamp, however the 21 year old thinks he has put all that behind him now and said:

“I personally think I’m doing alright with them [my nerves.] I am just going to sing, I’m going to sing for everyone that’s voted for me.”

Going forward, he has only one aim in mind.

“Making an album of course…..an inspirational one,” he mused.
