Louis Walsh has denied reports that he chose yet another bad song for District 3 on The X Factor this evening.
The vocal group were concerned when they found out that they would be performing ‘I Swear’ on the love and heartbreak themed episode and worried that the audience would find it dated.
Their concerns were valid, as after their performance tonight, Gary Barlow slated them saying:
“The song was in the wrong key. That very last note was really as well. The song choice was very dated. In the battle of the boybands Union J have taken it tonight.”
Many fans on Twitter blasted the boys’ mentor for picking a bad track for the second week running.
However, speaking on The Xtra Factor, Louis insisted that it was a good number for the boys to sing. He said:
“I’m very happy with the song and I love the harmony vocals. It’s early days… I want to show off their harmonies.”
“Everybody can’t be singing and dancing, that’s Rylan’s thing. It is all about the vocals with District 3.”
Nicole Scherzinger agreed with Louis on the song choice, however she still didn’t like the band’s performance. She insisted:
“I think it was a great song that Louis picked, it was just how the boys delivered it.”
The boys weren’t even fans of the performance themselves and apologised to fans a few minutes ago, saying
“Sorry we let u guys down. Hopefully we can prove ourselves next week if we get voted to stay in x”
