X Factor 2012: Rylan Clark lands a job on Daybreak! And Brian Dowling hopes he and David Haye will be on Celebrity Big Brother

by Lynn Rowlands

X Factor finalist Rylan Clark only left the show last weekend, but already it’s been rumoured that he’s heading into the Celebrity Big Brother house in January – more on that in a mo – and that he’s to star in The Only Way Is Essex…

And as if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Rylan has also been signed up to present showbiz news on ITV breakfast show, Daybreak!

Rylan, who’s set to fill in for regular presenter Richard Arnold – who was voted off the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing two weeks ago – told TV Biz, “I can’t believe it. I only left X Factor a week ago and now I am joining Lorraine and Aled on the Daybreak sofa.

“I’m a massive fan of the show and it’s going to be so much fun sharing all the showbiz news and gossip with the nation each morning.

“I’m looking forward to keeping Richard’s seat warm while he’s swanning off on holiday, but I won’t be asking for any dancing tips just yet.”

On the subject of the rumor that Rylan is taking part in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the show’s host Brian Dowling has revealed that he’d love to see Rylan as a housemate.

And while speaking to Metro, Brian added that he’d also like to see I’m A Celebrity stars Nadine Dorries and David Haye going into the house.

He said, “I’d love Rylan on the show. I think Rylan would be great purely because he’s camp, he’s loud, he’s colourful and he’s got a personality…

“And that makes for the best housemates, and he’s very, very popular right now. He’s got a big fanbase from being on The X Factor. I think he’d be a great housemate.

“I’d like to see Rylan in a situation where he’s uncomfortable. You know, how does Rylan react to conflict?”

Of Nadine Dorries and his other “dream team” housemates, Brian said, “Nadine would have been equally as good on Big Brother as well as I’m a Celebrity because of what people think about her.

“People like strong, opinionated women. She’s a bitch, she’s got an opinion and people like that.

“I’m a Celebrity, you’re obviously very, very tired. You’re very hungry. You’re living outside with nature.

“There’s rats, there’s snakes, it’s dreadful. Celebrity Big Brother can be a bit more relaxing. It’s safe.

“You might be living with snakes – let’s be honest – but Big Brother takes away the edge.”

Brian concluded with his fantasy line-up, remarking, “Joan Collins, Sarah Ferguson, David Haye – just so I could see him shower, Davina McCall – for obvious reasons – and we’d have to bring back Jackie Stallone.”

Celebrity Big Brother launches in January 2013, and will run on Channel 5 for three weeks.
