X Factor 2012 week 9: Louis Walsh in a onesie as Union J play it ‘safe’ with ‘I’m Already There’ (VIDEO)

Union J are bookies favourite to leave the X Factor tomorrow night so there was a lot of pressure on their shoulders when they performed on the ITV show tonight.

They have previously performed in three results show singoffs but know that there are no lifelines this week and if they don’t get the votes tomorrow, they will simply be going home as there will be no save me songs and no judges saves.

The group were more than aware of what their fate may be tomorrow if they don’t whip up enough support and they tweeted their fans this evening to plead with them to pick up the phone. Josh wrote:

“Hope you enjoy our performances tonight..remember there is no bottom 2 this week..so we really aren’t safe 🙁 #UnionJToTheFinal josh x”

Earlier this evening the lads performed ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ for the judges and for their second song of the evening they took on ‘I’m Already There’ by Westlife.

The big talking point was of course Louis Walsh in a onesie and he donned the ridiculous nightwear after promising the lads he would if they made the semis.

In terms of the performance, it was a typical boyband delivery but we liked it much more than the lads’ first song.

They seemed committed to the emotion behind the lyrics and for us, Jaymi’s solo lifted the whole thing to another level.

Afterwards Tulisa said it ‘sounded vocally really good tonight’ however she thought that they played it a little bit too ‘safe’ with their song choices.

Gary Barlow thought it was a ‘nice performance, good vocals, nice song choice.’ But he agreed it was ‘too safe’. He thinks they will be ‘at risk’ tomorrow as a result.

Nicole Scherzinger ‘loved it’ and praised Louis as a mentor. he said ‘you are like a fifth member of this band, you chose great songs tonight for them’

Louis Walsh said ‘if that was safe….you have no acts left!’

Did you enjoy Union J’s performance tonight? Do you think it’s enough to get him to the final? Leave your comments below…
