Luke Friend made his X Factor debut this evening, performing for the first time for millions of viewers, as well as a studio audience and the judges right in front of the stage.

The teenage singer has had a rough ride on the show so far and almost got eliminated in bootcamp after a rather disappointing performance.

He felt more hopeful about his vocals before tonight’s live show though and tweeted his fans saying:

“Had such an amazing day rehearsing for this weekend, remember to pick up the phone and vote for me! #voteluke #teamluke #friendies #rad”

Tonight, Luke chose the classic Police track ‘Every Breath You Take’ as his 80s song and we enjoyed his low key performance.

He had a tough act to follow, as before he sang the stage was filled by the amazing and energetic Tamera Foster.

However, Luke’s relaxed and chilled version of Sting’s classic was so welcome and he had not only a great look but also a brilliant vibe and a connection with the audience.

X Factor judges 2013

NICOLE SCHERZINGER: I love your tone. When you perform I feel it. You have this energy. Good job!

LOUIS WALSH: Luke I loved your energy, you brought it. I know what this means to you. I don’t care about your hair, I want people to vote for you!

GARY BARLOW: Luke your voice is an acquired taste but I really love it and I love this direction for you. The folk rock thing really works and it was a great performance but I think there is a load of mums out there who want to wash your hair.

SHARON OSBOURNE: Luke I just said to Gary you gave it your all. The performance value was bang on. Your voice isn’t the greatest but you don’t need it with that face. You have all the performance skills of a true person that should make it through to the end of this contest. You have got it all going on!

Did you enjoy the performance tonight? Who do you think will leave and who will survive tomorrow? Leave your comments below…
