The X Factor 2013 winner’s singles have finally been revealed!
Nicholas McDonald and Sam Bailey won themselves a place in the final last night and they recorded their winner’s single weeks and weeks ago, however ITV have been playing their cards very close to their chest on the track titles and names.
The duo will go head to head on tonight’s X Factor grand finale and as delivering their favourite song of the series again, they will also be performing their winner’s single, in the hope that they can clinch enough votes to win the series.
The winner’s single will be released for download tonight, after the show ends, with a physical copy going on sale later in the week.
It has been revealed today that Sam Bailey will sing Skyscraper by Demi Lovato (yes, Union J did record that last year but it never saw the light of day) while Nicholas McDonald will perform Superman.
Nicholas’ tune is definitely less recognisable than Sam’s, but then Matt Cardle’s wasn’t exactly a mainstream song when he won three years ago and look how well that sold for him.
US singer Five for Fighting released the track back in 2001, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 44th Grammy Awards in 2002 but peaked at number 48 in the UK singles chart, so it was never very well known over here.
Joe McElderry recorded the song for his Here’s What I Believe album after he won the X Factor. McElderry’s version reached #56 in the UK chart on album downloads alone. It has more history with the show too, as the song was once played on the seventh series after Liam Payne’s audition
Whichever singer wins, the proceeds of the winner’s single will be donated to the children’s charity Together For Short Lives this year and it’s hoped that the X Factor star can take the Christmas number one spot again in 2013.
Nicholas can’t quite believe that he might be releasing his debut single this evening and tweeted fans today saying:
“Cannot believe I am in the last 2 people in the final of the X factor !!!!! Thank you all so much for voting !!!!”
Currently, Sam is the bookies favourite to won, however one can never underestimate the power of Scottish voters! If you are planning to vote for Nicky tonight though, you might want to have a read of this article. We think you may be setting him up for a fall….
