Long before X Factor boy band JLS spilt up in December of last year, band member JB Gill had set himself up with a farm and was making forays into the world of being a celebrity chef.

So nobody expected him to release any new solo material, and certainly not before his band mates Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes and/or Oritsé Williams, but that’s exactly what he’s done. Or rather, is about to do.

According to The Sun’s TV Biz, JB has teamed up with music producer and DJ Charlie Hedges on an “electro track” which they’ve entitled, Best Night Of My Life.

The paper reports that JB told Bizarre, “Charlie approached me last year saying she had an idea for a house track and wanted a commercial spin on it.

“I said I’d love to write that for her — I recorded the vocals. It’s totally different from what I’ve done before musically.”

Also venturing into new territory is Marvin, who makes his debut on The Voice tonight as co-presenter alongside Emma Willis.

At the end of last year, when it was revealed that Marvin would star on the show, he told the BBC, “It is going to be daunting to think come January I am not going to be part of JLS anymore as that has been my bread and butter for the last six years.

“But it is exciting too. It is a new chapter for me and I am never afraid of change or new things.”

And when asked what advice he would give to hopefuls on The Voice, he said, “They just need to sing as much as possible. They need to get their song down to a tee.

“They will be nervous on the day and so they need to be very well prepared.

“If you do that, you are more confident in your body and you know your song inside out. If you don’t, you can see that.”
