X Factor winner’s single: Matt Terry’s When Christmas Comes Around SLATED online VIDEO

by Lisa McGarry

Amy Wadge and Ed Sheeran have penned a new song and it will feature as the winner’s single for this year’s X Factor champion.

Amy revealed the news on Twitter earlier this evening. The Pontypridd singer tweeted: “Here’s the thing Ed Sheeran & I wrote a song a few wks ago Ed sent it to Simon Cowell and now it’s the winners single on tonight’s X factor”.

The track is titled When Christmas Comes Around and Matt Terry has just performed it for the first time.

The song will not have a physical CD release, but will be download and streamed only. Mattie hoping he can sell better than Louisa Johnson did last year. She was in charge of the worst selling X Factor winners single ever!

This year the X Factor’s winner’s single will be in aid of two very important charities. All profits will be split between Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star Chase.

Not everyone is loving the song though. Tweets about the track included:

“When Christmas Comes Around there’s always some pish on the radio from #XFactor”

“When Christmas Comes Around. Quite harsh to make the winner sing a song which details the date they’re going to be dropped by Syco. #xfactor”

“When Christmas comes around, well that songs f*cked after the 25th December! #XFactor”

“Why didn’t we get to hear Saara’s version of When Christmas Comes Around first before the voting? Stupid decision made there… #XFactor”

So glad Matt won. He was my fav from day one. Congratulations on his win. I did notice he does really well with the motown songs but I feel confident he will be a wonderful success. Such a blessing to have Nicole as his mentor. She can belt them vocal cords like nobody’s business!
