After watching the X Factor launch episode at the press launch on Sunday, I was taken aback by the more relaxed and amicable relationship between the four judges. Dannii Minogue has revealed that this more peaceful vibe has made being a judge on ITV’s première talent show, a hell of a lot easier.
Revealing just how bad things got on last years show, Dannii told The Sun that at one point she was convinced that all the other judges were meeting up behind her back.
The singer, 37, said: “There was a room where we were all meant to meet before we went to the studio.
“There was a huge ‘Keep Out’ sign on that door, so I did. I was being respectful!
“It was only later in the series they said to me, ‘Oh that wasn’t meant for you’, and I could have gone in.
“But nobody came and got me and said, ‘Come and join in’.”
Dannii added: “I don’t like negative energy and if I feel it, I tend to keep to myself a little bit. And I think that did make me a bit misunderstood last year.”
On her reported feud with Louis Walsh Dannii said:
“I just didn’t really enjoy myself much last year. Things were difficult between me and Louis, and it changed the whole vibe.
“They’ve all been telling me I’m different this year, but I’m like, ‘What, and you guys are exactly the same?’.
“I couldn’t just sit there giggling and pretending I was having a good time when there was an atmosphere. But now things are good between Louis and me, it’s cleared the air for all of us. I’m sure there will still be rows, but me and Louis have reached an understanding and I don’t think it’ll get out of control.
“You can take things the wrong way when you’re in the middle of it all. Louis said he got too involved with his acts at the expense of our relationship and he won’t do it again.
“He said, ‘If I do, tell me to stop’. And I will – I’ll thump him over the head!”
