Ever since the world learned that X Factor guru Simon Cowell was to become a father, speculation has been rife about what he’ll name the child…

And apparently, it’s now been confirmed that he will name the tot Simon, and that the baby’s middle name will be Eric, which was Simon’s late father’s name.

The claim is made by the Daily Mail who state they heard the news from a source close to the music mogul.

The insider said, “Simon and Lauren have decided that their favorite name for the baby is actually Simon.’

“For a while it was between Simon and Eric – Simon’s dad’s name, but now it looks like Eric will be the middle name.”

The paper adds, “At Lauren’s baby shower last month, guests brought baby gifts emblazoned with the name Simon on them. Including gifts embroidered with the initials SC.”

The insider added, “There were baby clothes and little games all personalized with the name ‘Simon’.”

Simon and Lauren spent Christmas sunning themselves in the exclusive resort of St Barts aboard his Silverstream yacht, and for a while there, rumour was that they were going to marry secretly before the baby was born. However, if that’s happened, they certainly kept a very tight lid on it!

But back to what Simon and Lauren will name their baby, Simon recently told his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour – for Extra – “My number one choice is Simon because I like the name.”

And with regard to one of the baby’s names being Eric, Simon said, “His birthday is going to be very close to my dad’s birthday,” before adding that his dad would be “proud and amazed” at the baby news.

Here’s a clip from the Daily Mail of Simon and Lauren enjoying their last holiday before becoming parents…
