X Factor: Jamie Afro wows the judges

Tomorrow night on ITV, experienced musician Jamie Afro (Jame Archer) makes his X Factor debut.

“I’m 33 yrs old and from London,” smiles Jamie. After years playing the pubs and clubs, Jamie has always given constant effort but has never been able to break into the big time – “Music means everything, I’ve played in all sorts of horrible places”, says Jamie. “Nobody seems to enjoy what I’m doing or appreciate it, your confidence gets knocked and you think is it ever going to happen for me.”

“Today is the most important thing I’ve ever done – I’m 33 years old – it’s now or never really” says Jamie.

Big cheers from the new live audience as Jamie walks on stage. Simon asks what his name is, “My name is Jamie Archer but everyone knows me as Jamie Afro.”

Simon asks what he does – “I’m a musician, I play small places and wanted to play a bigger crowd” Jamie smiles and looks at the crowd.

Simon asks him why it hasn’t worked out for him so far “I’m a musician, not a businessman so I have no idea how to get into music business,” says Jamie.

“I’m going to sing ‘Sex on Fire’ by Kings of Leon,” smiles Jamie.

Jamie starts singing and hopes to ‘rock’ the new live audience – and is that Simon Cowell we see singing along?!?

Cheryl – “WOW, you had me singing along, dancing along, you’re a natural born entertainer.”

Dannii – “Thank you for coming to the auditions, to see someone who loves performing like that, it was brilliant.”

Jamie has impressed the girls – are Simon/Louis impressed and will Jamie sail through to Bootcamp?

Check out the clip above of Jamie performing an acoustic medley of the Chemical Brothers’ “Hey Boy Hey Girl”, Groove Armada’s “Superstylin'” and David Guetta’s “After The Love Is Gone’ in London’s Covent Garden.
