It turns out the reports were indeed true about Matt Cardle entering rehab on Sunday.

We reported that the former X Factor winner had entered The Priory to seek help for his addition to prescription drugs and last night, he thanked his fans for all their support on Twitter.

It was reported earlier this week by The Sun that Matt had entered rehab to kick his addition to Temazepam and Valium.

A source added that over the last few years, he has overworked himself to the point that he turned to prescription drugs for help.

Of course, as fans will know, Matt’s last two album releases have been independent after his record label dropped him.

Matt Cardle Note

The source said: “Matt is all over the place at the moment. His last two albums have done well in the charts, but the amount of work he has had to put in has been unreal – and it all started to get too much for him.

“In order to calm himself down he started taking Valium and Temazapam, but things got so bad that he couldn’t get up without taking the pills”.

However, last night, the star posted a note on Twitter which confirmed that he had entered rehab to seek help, although it did not clarify what for.

He wrote on a note: “I want to thank my fans for all your lovely messages of support…

“I’m getting myself better… I want to be ready to give it 110% on tour next year.

“I love you all and will see you on the other side.

“Happy New Year!

“All My Love, Matt”.

We of course wish Matt the best of luck in Rehab and hope he’s refreshed and ready to go when he leaves.
