News on The X Factor judging front has slowed down ever so slightly over the past week as it seems all eyes are on one lady by the name of Cheryl Cole. It seems like Chezza is the bookies’ favourite to join The X Factor panel again later this year with Simon Cowell. However, not all may be as plain sailing as it seems as it has been reported that the Geordie star is torn about signing on the dotted line.
But, that isn’t the only news to emerge this week as SCANDAL has hit The X Factor. Well, one of it’s judges anyway – yes Louis Walsh, I am looking at you! Aslan star Billy McGuinness has claimed that Mr. Walsh is planning on FIXING Eurosong so that former X Factor contestant Eoghan Quigg wins! Get all the juicy deets inside…
So, it would seem that all eyes are on Cheryl Cole at the minute as it’s looking pretty certain that she will return to The X Factor judging panel later this year along with Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and another unnamed judge. But, not all may be as clean cut as the media is making out as Cheryl is said to be torn about signing on the dotted line.
Throughout her time on the show, Cole mentored the likes of Cher Lloyd, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry and she was a HIT with the viewers. After her departure in 2010, along with Simon Cowell, ratings sunk to an all-time low, so Cowell is hoping that her return will boost the ratings again.
However, a source close to the situation told Closer Magazine recently that Cheryl is suffering from sleepless nights over the decision to return to the show. Apparently, she feels “under pressure” because the next step is “critical to her career comeback. She’s so stressed, she’s been waking up in the night”.
Of course, The X Factor format hasn’t been all that kind to Chezza in the past, especially with her experience of the USA version of the show, but Cheryl apparently knows that her return could make or break her career.
Elsewhere, we’re already getting fixing claims and the show isn’t even on the air yet! But, this is a different sort of fixing claim that involves Eurovision, Louis Walsh and former X Factor contestant, Eoghan Quigg.
Aslan star Billy McGuinness has slammed Louis Walsh for inappropriately using his ‘position of power’ to fix the Eurosong vote in favour of Eoghan Quigg.
The former X Factor contestant is currently in the running to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision and McGuinness isn’t happy, as he believes that Walsh’s appearance on the Late Late Show is basically to “manipulate the text vote” in favour of Quigg. If Quigg wins the vote, he will subsequently get to represent Ireland in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.
McGuinness said: “I found out Louis Walsh and Linda Martin are on the panel. Are they going to influence the audience? Of course they are! … It’s not fair for the other mentors who are putting in all the hard work”.
He went on to add that it’s ironic that Walsh has been involved with the four acts who have gone on represent Ireland for the past four years. He reckons that the contest should revert back to the anonymous voting system rather than a text vote.
Meanwhile, in other X Factor-related news this week, Abi Alton of The X Factor 2013 crop has found herself in hospital, but she’s insisted that she is absolutely fine.
It’s not yet known why Alton was admitted to hospital, but she had to pull out of a gig in Glasgow due to the incident.
But, she took to Twitter to assure her fans that she was on the mend and she would be back on the stage “as soon as possible”.
She said: “Unfortunately I will not be taking part in tonight’s show in Glasgow as I am in hospital. But not to fear as I am on the mend and hopefully will be back to it as soon as possible. I’m sure my fellow contestants will put on an excellent show x.”
So, there’s your X Factor news round-up! Do you reckon Cheryl will return to the panel this year? Is Louis really going to try and fix the Eurosong vote? (We have seen support from the likes of Olly Murs & Niall Horan)And we hope that Abi is back on her feet soon!
