Treyc Cohen has become the seventh person to be eliminated from the 2010 X Factor series.
On tonight’s results show it was revealed that Katie Waissel and Treyc Cohen had received the lowest amount of public votes and would compete against each other in the sing off.
Cheryl Cole looked devastated that it would be one of her girls leaving and after the ad break, Katie started the sing off with a rendition of Solomon Burke’s 2002 song, Don’t Give Up On Me. It was very similar to her two previous save me numbers and wasn’t helped by the fact that she forgot her words halfway through and desperately begged the public through the lyrics of the song.
Treyc chose to sing ‘Unbreak My Heart’ by Toni Braxton for her ‘save me’ song and gave a flawless vocal throughout. She appeared close to tears at times and it was the most personality we have seen Cohen inject into a performance yet.
Simon: Here’s the dilemma, Treyc you are the better singer, Katie you are the more interesting performer. I’m going to base this on who, as a viewer I’d like to see next week. The person I will send home is Treyc.
Cheryl: You’re both talented young women and I’m not sending either of them home Dermot. I’m refusing point blank, ask these two and I’ll take it to deadlock.
Dannii: These girls are brilliant singers, you both sing well under pressure and the person I am sending home tonight is Katie.
Louis: Dermot this is really hard, I love both of them. My head is saying save Treyc, my heart is saying save Katie. I’m going to go with my heart and send home Treyc.
Treyc was sent home and on how her elimination came about, the 26 year old told Dermot:
It was probably just the connection with the people at home. But I’ve had the best time, I’ve met some great people, I’ve made lifelong friends.
